Purpose of collecting data
Data is collected for the purposes of massage therapy treatment or planning training.
Health Disclosure Policy
- All new clients must undergo a brief health questionnnair/assessment to establish any relevant medical condition(s) or contraindication(s) or cautions for treatment.
- We request your health informationso we can ensure you are safe to receive massage/soft tissue therapy and so we can adapt our techniques wgere necessary.
- It is your responsibility to inform us of relevant medical history and any changes to your health.
GDPR, Data Protection and Privacy Policy
- All data is controlled as per the Data Protection Act and GDPR regulations (2018). Data will be kept for 7 years and then destroyed appropriately.
- Paper based data will be stored in a locked cabinet and electronic data will be stored on password protected devices and specific client management software which uses encryption both at rest and in transit and sub-processors and infrastructure vendors are supervised.
- Your personal and health data is confidential and will not be shared with any third parties without yourt prior permission. If you require a referral to a GP or other Health Care Professional this will be discussed in advance.
Massage Therapy Specific Policies
Bookings and Cancellation Policy
- Online bookings require a 50% deposit in order to confirm the session.
- Bookings can be made here
- Cancellations made up to 48 hours before your appointment are fully refundable.
- Thereafter deposit becomes nonrefundable to protect the business from loss of income.
- Cancellations made on the day due to illness may be rebooked without losing your deposit at the therapist’s discretion.
- The therapist reserves the right to refuse treatment in cases of regular late cancellations, no shows or no communication about cancellations. If an online appointment has been booked, this will be cancelled and refunded by the therapist.
Late arrivals policy
- Even if you arrive late, appointments will end at the originally scheduled time slot.
- Clients who arrive late will be charged for the full session and no time extension will be provided.
Client Conduct & Therapist’s Right to Refuse Treatment
- Therapists reserve the right to refuse service or terminate treatment in cases of:
- Harassment or threatening language or behaviour
- Sexual advances, requests or comments
- A client attending for treatment under the influence of drugs or alcohol
In such instances, any deposits made will be non-refundable and the full cost of the session will still be required.
Age Policy
- All therapists have been DBS checked.
- Any clients under the age of 18 must have an adult chaperone (guardian, parent or trusted adult) present during the whole assessment and treatment who can give informed consent for them.
Understanding Risks
- The benefits of massage and soft tissue therapy outweigh the risks. Potential benefits include pain relief, improved interoception and kinaesthetic awareness, increased mobility, and decreased stress and anxiety. There is a risk of soreness during some treatments, e.g. trigger point therapy and muscle soreness and tiredness post treatment. There is a risk of bruising with some techniques, e.g cupping.
- All treatments will be individualised for you and for your stage of healing. Treatments and interventions will be explained by your therapist so that you understand the aims, benefits and risks and you can make an active an informed consent to participate.
